Second Decade comprised of the activities extended for women and a focus was on development of reading habits and writing skills in women and children.
In 2003, under the mantle of expert guidance of Late Madhavitai Desai, "Gomantak Mahila Sahitya Sammelan" was established as a qualitative literary platform in the state of Goa. This annual Women’s Literary Conference has thrived with the participation of the Marathi literatti, year after year, thus winning unstinted support and accolades from the audience.
Luminaries from the field of Marathi literature from the state of Goa and other states graced 15 sammelans. All the events received a very good response from the delegates and audience. This has become a unique literary event which has carved its own niche in the Goan literary scenario.
Third decade, started with a determination to direct our collective potential to contribute more toward the social cause. This sowed the seed of starting a new social project to create the facility that was not available in the state of Goa.
With the initiative of Ms. Sangeeta Abhyankar, a team of our members visited ‘Swaranaad’- a pre-school and speech therapy centre for deaf children at Pune. Sharada team witnessed the fact that children who are born deaf, can speak if speech therapy is given at an early age. After studying the local scenario, it was realised that there is an alarming need of such a centre in Goa. After rounds of discussions with the director of Swaranaad, other members of ‘Sharada’, medical fraternity and well-wishers in Ponda, it was decided to work towards establishing a speech therapy centre at Ponda.
